PiMS Workspace with Skandia UK wins PFM Award for
Partners in Business Change
PiMS Workspace is delighted to announce that it has won the Partners in Business Change award at this year’s prestigious PFM Awards. Facing strong competition in the category from Carillion FM with Virgin Media Facilities, and EC Harris with DCSF, PiMS Workspace, together with its client Skandia, was delighted to accept the award at the ceremony held at The Brewery in central London on 4th November.
Said Managing Director of PiMS Workspace Martin Atkinson, “We are delighted that the creative and extensive work we did with Skandia has been recognised. The PFM Awards are highly respected, and we are very appreciative of our client Skandia working with us to achieve this award.”
When financial services company, Skandia, was taken over by Old Mutual in 2006, it altered its traditional business structure to become more streamlined by creating a shared service support infrastructure and a working style that more reflected recent changes in the industry.
It decided that its three buildings in central Southampton needed a re-stack to re-align evolving business units, and improve workflow and adjacencies. The in-house team worked with PiMS Workspace on the project. PiMS Workspace undertook a series of interviews to establish the current and future needs of the business, and it became apparent that the business now and in future could comfortably fit into just two buildings. The most lettable building, Skandia Point, was vacated and let, and the business was re-stacked into the remaining two buildings.
PiMS Workspace assumed the role of the Skandia client ensuring a robust tender process for relocation and fit-out works. Space plans were created for discussion with each department that introduced improved workflow, more light and the perception of increased space, despite occupancy densities being increased by 20 per cent on average. There has been an increase in output (in those areas measured) and sickness levels reduced significantly directly attributed to the investment in the improved workspace.
Concluded Martin Atkinson, “in these tough economic times, companies need to recognise the opportunities to save costs across every sector of their business. Many companies know that they should make changes in their workspace, but they often just do not have the time or manpower to research and implement these. PiMS Workspace can assist them to make the most of existing space, cut down on unnecessary wastage, and improve staff performance.”
